An extra mile

Somebody told me once that when you want to train your body and you feel very tired, that is the moment when you have to do that one more time. Because in this way, your body will be prepared to do that exercise when it is tired also; but when you will be in normal conditions, it will be easier for the body to do the same thing.

In sports, training is the most powerful tool to find success. You have to train a lot and in different ways to avoid errors.

Those who are willing to go the extra mile are the ones who can reach the success - in sports, but also in so many other areas (business or just life). The extra mile and the afraid of being just an ordinary guy.

You can treat each thing you do like being average importance (from the way you dress to the way you respond to an email) or you can try to do the best you can on that.

It's not only the result that matters. More important maybe it is the mindset needed for this extra mile. And to enjoy the journey!

Sometimes I feel myself losing my motivation in the long term. On those moments, I try to do some things:

  • Remember ”the why” (inspired by Simone Sinek)
  • Break the big-goal into more small-goals / tasks
  • Find a reference group (or a support group that it will account your activity)
  • Find unproductive habits or take some breaks when it needed
  • Celebrate small victories

On the other hand, you have to be aware of your limits. Going the extra mile constantly can let you be exhaustive. So it's up to you to know the limits.
