Success is more than doing what you love

We hear a lot that if you want to have success, you need to like what you do.

I partially agree with this. This can influence it, but success is much more than liking what you do.

The audit moment for this year is coming. Because of this, I want to emphasize some of the things that influence my success over the years or some things I learned until now.

If you want success:

  • You have to put effort into this. If you only like what you do, you can have success in some particular moments. For success in the long term, effort is needed.
  • You have to extend your expertise. Being in your comfort zone doesn’t help you grow. Learn a lot and learn constantly also from connected areas.
  • You have to be committed. That practice of working 15-20 minutes each day for your goal helps a lot.
  • You have to pay attention to your progress and to the lessons you have to learn on your journey. Adapt after each step.
  • You have to be careful with the team you choose. It is a saying I love: “Find your tribe”. And I would add: “your tribe that would sustain your success”.
  • Be kind to yourself. You can’t be perfect in each thing you do. And you achieve things the moment you are prepared for them.
  • Plan your next step and avoid being burned out. After you have a plan, start with a certain action. Be comfortable with the failure and work on it.
In the end, a speech about success (or not) and some thoughts of mine from the age of 30.
