Smile… it confuses people

Science proved a lot of benefits of smiling: from relationships to productivity at work, from hormones to reducing stress. But also, if you have a fake smile, probably the benefits will not be the same.

An authentic smile is based on some muscles. And each muscle has to be trained.

So, here are some tips to help you “train” your smile:

  • Use your muscle memory. Next time when you will have to take a photo and somebody asks you to smile, remember a moment when you were happy. With no effort, you will start to smile naturally
  • Analyze yourself in a mirror when smiling. Watch your eyes, your checks, your lips. Do you feel comfortable or relaxed when you smile? Try to analyze what you see and how you feel.
  • Raise your posture. Not only when you smile, but always. This will give a better general mood and confidence.
  • Try to smile at everyone you see. There is a lot of research on why babies use smiles and all of them confirm the benefits of parents’ smiles on babies. We can use it also on adults.
  • Analyze different photos. What kind of smiles do you see there? Can you differentiate a natural smile from a fake one?

Of course, the basis of a good smile is good dental hygiene. But I think that most of the adults just forgot to smile.

So, do you have any special routine when somebody asks you to smile for a photo?
