How to avoid phone dependency?

  • Stop all the notifications from your phone - they distract your attention when you are doing something
  • Don’t keep the internet always on - this will make you open by reflex the social media apps you have on your phone
  • Use a hand watch instead of checking the hour on your phone
  • Delete the applications that give dependency or, at least, hide them from the main screen
  • Setup a clear intention when you take the phone and put the phone away after you end that action
  • Set a time limit for the time spent on the phone during a day
  • If possible, use the desktop applications instead of the mobiles ones
  • Find some alternatives to the morning alarm to avoid using your phone (who remembers that radio station that has an alarm system that can be set up?)
  • Don’t charge your phone near your bad (this affects also your health) or in your proximity
  • Try a day without a phone - at least on your holidays
  • Go out without your phone - I did this once by mistake and my family got panicked that something happened to me
  • When you meet a friend, put your phone away
  • Plan free-time activities that don’t involve technology
  • Watch reality shows with people who don’t have access to their phones (like Survival or America Express) to see how people spend their time

These are some things I used to do or, at least, I want to do on my own.
